💬 Activities, Notes & Communications

🔧 Work Performed
'25.09.08_MS Performed the following problem analysis. All buttons operated were on the footboard: 1) 30-deg Fowler only went up 10-deg before stopping. It wouldn't go back down. 2) Trendelenburg only briefly clicks but doesn't move. Rev-Trend works fine 3) Raising Fowler button only gets gatch to raise. No movement of backrest. 4) At the end of the CPR button cycle lowering the bed and gatch, the backrest lowered. After this everthing was working again (backrest 30-deg, manual backrest, Trendelenburg) 5) Called Styker tech support for advice. They were thinking maybe a bad cable from the CPU to the footboard but were less confident when learning that all my testing was done with the footboard (vs. siderail controls.) They then agreed that returning to service and monitoring it frequently was the logical best option. 6) After running it thru more operational testing (pre-PM stuff), I found that the CPR release squueze mechanism stuck. When trying to operate the Fowler, the motor would just spin but no movement of the Fowler. I was able to get the CPR release mechanism to reingage by jiggling it. And now the Fowler just clicks briefly when operating the button (either on the left siderail or the footboard). Operating Trend button make the bed shake briefly but not move. 7) Removed the lower safety pan for better visibility and the bed now working again. 8) Called Stryker back again and got Sebastian this time. He said that it is definitely the cam card that was out of adjustment. (Clues were Fowler not going up and Trend not working but Rev Trend working.) He helped me make adjustments to the cam. 9) Removed the Fowler motor and verified that the CPR return springs were properly engaged. 10) Spray lubed both CPR release mechanisms. (They were binding prior to the lube.) 11) Reassembled motor with blue loctite on the isolation bolts. 12) Reassembled the CPU cover. Noticed the wire "X" may have been pinched .... so if the cam adjustment doesn't solve the problem, might try replacing the wire harness with the "X" connector as I believe that this is the wire harness going to the cam. 13) Replaced anti-crush belly pan and verified proper function in all 4 corners. 14) Replaced 9V NC battery & reset footboard to verifiy. 15) Replaced missing straing reliefs on power cords and secure cord w zipties. 16) Returned to service.
🔍 Technician Findings
'25.09.08_MS Found bed in my shop with prob. desc. "Head end of bed won't raise or lower". I also discovered that the CPR release mechanism would stick in the released state occasionally. Also needed NC light battery and strain reliefs on power cords.
